Karwa Chauth, a Hindu holiday, is celebrated with tremendous zeal and ardour by married ladies. On this day, ladies observe a 'nirjala' fast, which means that they don't eat or drink anything from sunrise to moonrise. On this day, women fast to pray for their husbands' safety and long life, while many husbands now fast with their wives for the same reason.
