  1. Puja should begin with invocation of Lord Ganesha in Avahan Mudra (Palms joined and thumbs folded inwards)
  2. Offer flowers to Lord Ganesh by putting it infront of the Idol/Picture.
  3.  Wash  the feet of Lord Ganesh’s Idol with water.
  4. Offer scented water to Lord Ganesh
  5. Offer water to Lord Ganesh for sipping (Achamana)
  6. Bath Lord Ganesh’s Idol with water and then with mixture of  milk, curd, honey, Ghee and sugar.
  7. Offer new clothes to Lord Ganesh
  8. Offer Yajnopavita ( the sacred thread worn over the left shoulder and hanging under the right) to Lord Ganesh
  9. Offer scent to Lord Ganesh
  10. Offer Akshat (rice) rice to Lord Ganesh
  11. Decorate Lord Ganesh’s Idol/Picture with  Pushpa Mala, Shami Patra, Durvankura, Sindoor.
  12. Now offer Deep to Lord Ganesh.
  13. Offer Naivedya (sweets) to lord Ganesh
  14. Offer Tambula, Narikela and Dakshina Samarpan to Lord Ganesh.
  15. Perform Lord Ganesh’s aarti.
  16. Offer flowers to Lord Ganesh.
  17. Perform Pradakshina by circumbulating from left to right of Lord Ganesh’s Idol/Picture.
  18. Perform Visarjan
